TERM DATES

Our last class of this term will be on Thursday 18th December, after which all Aurora members are invited to a Christmas Party to be hosted by the Smails.

Dancing will recommence at Dyce Primary School on Thursday 8th January, 2009.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

Aurora President Anna Smail and her husband Alan will be the hosts for our Christmas Party, which will follow a short class on Thursday 18th December. There will also be an opportunity to see video footage of Aurora performances in Belgium and in Sweden.

AURORA WEEKEND AWAY

Once again we plan to return to the Highland Adventure Centre in Glenisla from Friday 20th February 2009 till Sunday 22nd.

Dance writing competition

Our dance writing competition in June 2008 attracted entries from ten Aurora members, who were inspired to create an impressive range of reels, jigs, strathspeys and medleys of an amazingly high standard. There could only be one winning dance, which turned out to be “Over the Hills” a jig for 4 couples in a square set, devised by Miriam Weibye. Congratulations to Miriam!

With so many new dances to add to our repertoire, the publication of a second book of dances is a strong possibility for the future. Watch this space for more news!

Aurora Masked Ball 2008

The 2008 Aurora Masked Ball on Saturday 24th May was a great success, with Sandy Nixon and his band creating a wonderful atmosphere. Our raffle in aid of CLAN raised an amazing £160!

Aurora Away Weekend 2008

In February 2008 about 20 Aurora members set off for the Highland Adventure Centre in Glenisla for an Away Weekend of dancing, walking and games. The catering was excellent and the accommodation very comfortable – but now that they know us, will we be allowed back in 2009?

Burns Supper

Our Burns Supper was well attended by over 50 members and guests. With speeches out of the way, tables and chairs were swept aside and we had a great night of dancing, with the Aurora Ceilidh Band excelling themselves.
